"During one of the darkest periods of my life, I came to the realization that I needed to seek the support of a therapist. As an educated single mother of two, I felt my life spiraling out of control. The choices I was making had a profound impact on me, particularly in my dating and romantic relationships, where I found myself attracted to abusive, controlling, and sometimes narcissistic individuals.

It’s easy to blame others for our circumstances, but I learned that many of the struggles I faced were rooted in my own choices. Acknowledging this was difficult but necessary for my healing. When I found Ms. Shirley Taylor, everything began to change. She guided me in understanding my trauma and provided me with the tools to cope with it effectively. Through her guidance, I discovered how to better navigate life and embrace my own passions and strengths.

I learned the importance of prioritizing my own well-being and developed a healthier self-image. I also came to understand that while others may have betrayed or hurt me, I could let go and forgive them, allowing myself to move forward. With Ms. Taylor’s support, I uncovered my true passions and gained the confidence to return to school, ultimately earning my second master’s degree.

This journey not only helped me make wiser choices with my education but also empowered me to attract more positive people into my life. Through numerous healing sessions, I became a better mother, evolved into a leader at work, and eventually found my partner and became a wife. Thanks to Ms. Taylor, I am now living a healthy, fulfilling life, and I am forever grateful for her guidance and for my decision to seek help."

I found out about Mrs. Taylor before knowing anything about her, and I say that because of a member from my church named “SW”. One Sunday while I was in church, I saw “SW” walking by, and it was something different about her that I had not noticed before. Her walk was different, her aura was different, she dressed differently, she walked with confidence, (a brand-new person). It was just something different about her, and I’ve known her for a few years. But I must say that I said to myself (I want what she has). Lol!

Not too long after noticing something different about her, we ended up being at the same book signing event and were sitting next to one another. I told her all that I noticed about her, and she was so happy and said, “Thanks to my therapist”. So, that’s how I found out about Mrs. Taylor before knowing about her. When I was talking with “SW”, I told her that I was thinking about going for therapy and she encouraged me to do so. Moving forward I didn’t ask her for Mrs. Taylor’s information until a few years later after my mother passed away. And it was and has been a BLESSING, in my life. My first conversation on the phone with Mrs. Taylor, I knew she was the one God had for me. When I started my sessions with Mrs. Taylor, I was a cocoon that flourished into a butterfly. She helped me get to know me! In so many areas in my life, I’m still a work in progress, and working with the tools that she provided me with.

I remembered our first session when she was asking me questions on the questionnaire that I filled out, and I stated to her that I wanted to be a better version of myself, and she stated, “What does that mean, a better version of myself?” I didn’t understand it at the time when the question was asked. But, after a while I got it! I realized that I don’t want to be a better version of myself, because that version of myself will mean a worse version of myself with the same issues and trauma I endured. So, a few months down the road it hit me! I stated to Mrs. Taylor that I got it now! Why you asked me that question. And I said to Mrs. Taylor. I want to be the version of myself that GOD intended me to be.

I was blessed for the first time around to meet such a wonderful Therapist. Mrs. Taylor, continue doing what you do, by blessing others the gift GOD has blessed you with, serving and helping others along this journey, called life.

I was in therapy with Mrs. Shirley Taylor Dunn for over three years, and I can honestly say she had a profound impact on my growth and healing.  She is compassionate and genuinely caring, but she does not shy away from asking the tough questions that really made me dig deeper, be honest with myself and grow.

She strikes the perfect balance between support and accountability. If you're truly ready to do the work and looking for a therapist who will listen with empathy, encourage you to do the work of self-reflection, while feeling safe and understood, I highly recommend Mrs. Shirley Taylor Dunn.
